Personal Statement
My name is Anish Jaishi Mishra. I was born in Chitwan district of Nepal in September 17, 1996. I grew up in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. My parents worked hard to send me to a good school in the capital. I went to Paragon Public School from 2004 till 2011. The school was a good school but not so great. The school lacked many things that we students needed like, sports and other extra curricular activities. But, the teachers were good and I got good education there. While I was in that school for 7 years, from my 4th grade till 10th, I gained lots of experiences. I also went through mental and physical pressures. I unwillingly got into fights, which is the worst part of my school life. But, one thing that I am proud of is that, although my friends got into drugs and alcohols, I was able to stay away from them. We all grew up together but they chose to go the wrong way. I tried helping them get out of that, but it was useless. After completing my SLC, I was waiting for my visa so that I could come to the United States. During that time, I didn't join any school for the 1st semester and stayed at home. But after my dad told me that it would take some more time, I joined a 'junior college' for my 11th grade in the middle of the year. It was difficult for me, because there were lots of things that I had missed. But that wasn't a problem because I wanted to keep myself busy and learn at least something. During that six months in 11th grade, I met some of my best friends. I had never expected to meet such wonderful people. I had always waited to have such great friends. But, after the end of the year, I had to leave Nepal and come to the United States. I was sad to leave my friends, but also equally excited. So, in the evening of July 3rd, 2012, I landed in San Francisco International Airport. I was so excited beacuse everything was so different and new for me. I was amazed by the streets, the cars, the buildings, everything. I felt really lucky to be here. After getting here, I joined Sacramento New Technology High School. I got enrolled in Junior year because I wanted to retake that year since it didn't go very well in Nepal. At first I thought, it would be very difficult for me to adjust there because everything was different. The school system was different and the people were also different for me. But it didn't take me very long to make really amazing friends and get used to the school. I had a different identity in the school. Everyone thought I was smart beacuse in Nepal, the math and science are very difficult. I found the classes easy. I didn't have troubles with my math and science classes. But it took me a while to learn the Art and Design classes. And now, I am good at those classes too. I am trying to get good grades in all my classes and I am doing good. I feel lucky to be a student at New Tech because of the wonderful teachers, the students and the environment. After graduating from New Tech, my plan is to study at MIT. Although, it will be really difficult for me to get in there, I would like to try because I like technology. If I don't get into MIT, I would like to got to a good four year college and get my degree.
